BOTOX® TREATMENTS Botulinum toxin, or Botox is an FDA-approved, highly refined medication used in very small amounts to smooth deep wrinkles, and relax overactive frown lines. BOTOX® treatments improve "crow’s feet" around the eyes, wrinkles across the forehead, and vertical furrows between the eyebrows. A highly purified muscle-relaxing agent, Botox is injected in small amounts to relax selected facial muscles. After these five-minute treatments, patients often enjoy a more pleasant and relaxed appearance. There is virtually no "down-time", and the effect of the Botox usually lasts 3-6 months and may be repeated..
LIPOSUCTION While liposuction is actually a surgical procedure, it is listed in the non-surgical category because of its minimally invasive nature. Small suction instruments are inserted through a very small incision in the skin crease under the chin, in order to remove accumulations of excessive fat. Dr. Godin reserves liposuction for the chin and neck areas only.  This precise and minimally invasive procedure can be done by itself in younger patients, or as a part of the facelift procedure in many of our patients who are undergoing facial rejuvenation.

FILLERS FOR FACIAL
  WRINKLES AND FOLDS

Dr. Godin uses a new generation of filler materials which are safer and longer lasting than collagen. He is a nationally known expert in the use of both Radiesse and Restylane, and has published a scientific article about the combined use of both materials.  Juvederm™, a new filler from the makers of BOTOX®, is also used.  The fillers vary in where in the face they can most safely be placed and how long they last.  The most popular areas for improvement are the folds between the mouth and cheeks and the "lipstick lines" around the mouth. These fillers may also be used to enhance the size or change the shape of the lips. These 30-minute treatments are performed in the office under both topical and local anesthesia for comfort. We consider it an advantage to have an expert in facial plastic surgery performing your nerve blocks so that you tolerate the filler injections well, especially in the lip area.
SKIN CARE ANALYSIS Dr. Godin and his medical aestheticians have selected products to provide benefits for patients with a wide range of different skin types. Many of these products are physician-exclusive and include an excellent cleanser, moisturizersthat hydrate and protect the skin from sun damage, and creams that resurface the skin and stimulate the production of collagen. Our licensed aestheticians can customize a daily skin care program based on your needs that can help reduce blemishes, even your skin tone, protect your skin against further damage, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
MICRODERMABRASION SKIN
   RESURFACING TREATMENTS
A gentle way to even facial skin appearance, microdermabrasion uses tiny crystals and suction to remove superficial skin cells. There is virtually no "down time", and improvements in acne scarring, skin discoloration and very small facial lines may be seen after several treatments. There is usually very little discomfort, and the procedure takes about 15 minutes to complete. A series of six treatments at two-week intervals is often recommended followed by touch-up treatments monthly or bi-monthly.
LASER FACIAL VEIN
   REMOVAL
Small prominent facial vessels may be reduced in color or permanently removed by a special laser treatment. This effect is immediate and is very popular with patients. There is a small amount of discomfort and redness after the 5-15 minute treatment. While a few vessels typically return, others remain permanently removed after the treatment.
LASER TATOO REMOVAL We offer a special laser to reduce the appearance of tattoos on any area of the body. These are normally 5 to 20 minute treatments in which the tattoo pigment in the skin is actually disrupted, allowing the body to gradually resorb it. The effectiveness of this procedure depends on several factors including the amount of ink in the tattoo, the age of it, and what colors were used. The number of treatments required to achieve the desired effect varies with each person. Patients are advised that there is a short period of healing (usually 4 to 5 days) during which the skin may require antibacterial ointment and a Band-Aid dressing. The patient should be examined by Dr. Godin in consultation prior to any treatment so that the he or she can have a realistic idea of  how much reduction in color can be expected.  A numbing cream is sometimes recommended for the patient to use prior to coming in for treatments. Such creams should be used in small amounts and only in the area of the tattoo.
